Watch: Suspended MPs rebuff ‘tea diplomacy’; PM Modi praises Harivansh’s move
Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh Narayan Singh arrived with tea for the suspended Members of Parliament who camped overnight at Parliament lawns. The eight MPs have been suspended for unruly behavior on Sunday ahead of the passage if the three contentious farm bills. However, the MPs rebuffed the RS Deputy Chairman’s ‘tea diplomacy’. PM Modi lauded the Deputy Chairman’s gesture in a tweet. ‘To personally serve tea to those who attacked and insulted him a few days ago as well as those sitting on Dharna shows that Shri Harivansh Ji has been blessed with a humble mind and a big heart. It shows his greatness,’ PM Modi tweeted. Harivansh has also written to Vice-President saying that he will go on a one day fast over the Rajya Sabha ruckus. On Monday, Venkaiah Naidu announced the one-week suspension of Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Sanjay Singh, Congress’ Rajeev Satav, Ripun Bora and Syed Nasir Hussain, CPI (M)’s KK Ragesh and Elamaram Karim.
