First phase of assembly elections held in Assam

The first phase of assembly elections were held in Assam on Monday in 62 constituencies amid tight security. The polling began around 7 in the morning in 13 districts. People in large numbers queued up before polling booths well before voting opened. The voters said they are expecting peace and development in the area.
