Mainstreaming tribals through police recruitment

The government has launched a special drive in Maoist affected areas to recruit tribals in police to bring them into the mainstream in Orissa. Authorities in Rayagada said that about 2,000 tribal youth would be recruited in the state police force during the drive. The recruitment is solely meant for the tribals as the tribal regions of the state face a high percentage of unemployment said to be one of the causes of the local youth drifting towards the Maoist cadres.
