Authorities in the northeast region stepped up precautionary measures to minimise the possibility of outbreak of H1N1 influenza on Friday in the wake of several swine flu cases reported across the country. In Manipur, a Rapid Response Team (RRT) of five to six doctors has been appointed in each district to control the spread of the virus. The northeast states share borders with Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and China. Passengers traveling from across the border and suspected of swine flu are screened at the border area.
