Friday turned out to be a tough day for commuters in Delhi, as over 400 petrol pumps in the city went on a strike declared by the Delhi NCR Petrol Dealers Association (DNPDA) to protest against the hike in VAT rates on diesel. The pumps were shut from 6 am, even as diesel prices in the neighboring states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh were slashed. Locals had to bear the brunt as they found it hard to commute due to unavailability of fuel.
