POSCO: Jairam pushes for peaceful land acquisition

Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh in Hyderabad on Tuesday said that the clearance issued by ministry of Environment and Forests is no license for the provincial governments to forcefully acquire farmers' lands for development and allied projects. He was reacting to the row over acquisition of land by the government of Orissa for the POSCO steel project and wished that the process is conducted in a peaceful manner.
