In a bid to step up the fight against Maoist insurgency, police officials in Orissa on Monday began a poster campaign that highlights the rebels' atrocities and details a government package for surrendered guerrillas. The posters, at various places in the tribal town of Rayagada in Orissa, also describe the massacres of the rebels. P.K. Bhoi, additional superintendent of Police, Rayagada said that the police through their poster campaign have urged the Maoists to return to the mainstream society. The locals welcomed the initiative taken by the police officials, urging the Maoists to put down their arms and get benefited by various financial assistance schemes started by the state government.
