Private airlines threaten to suspend flights on Aug 18

India's private airline operators said on Friday, they would suspend domestic operations on August 18 to protest the lack of government relief for the ailing industry that have been hit hard due to high operating costs, fall in demand and global economic slowdown. The Federation of Indian Airlines which includes five of India's biggest private airlines said that private operators too needed a helping hand from the government.
