Traders in Northern India today protested the cabinet's decision to open its retail sector to foreign supermarkets. The traders also expressed their anger in wake of the steep hike in diesel prices. In Amritsar angry traders slammed the government policy and tagged it as anti-people. Meanwhile farmers in Amritsar also described the decision of the government to increase the price of diesel as unfair. In Kanpur, members of Akhil Bharatiya Vyapar Mandal, along with traders also protested outside the residence of Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal against the diesel price rise and FDI in retail.
