Customs officials have seized 200 live star turtles from a Malaysia-bound man and arrested him in Kochi, police say. The accused, Mahesh, attempted to dodge authorities by going through the green channel at the Kochi International Airport without declaring anything in possession. An examination of his baggage revealed that he had hidden ornamental turtles worth about ₹5 million. Star turtles are used as one of the most popular pets internationally. Besides they have many herbal and medicinal properties as well.
