Russia’s drone war over Ukraine appears to be entering a faster and more challenging phase. Ukraine says Russia used five times more jet-powered UAVs in July than in June, with around 800 reportedly launched during a four-day barrage. Kyiv says these faster drones are harder to intercept than conventional Shahed-type UAVs, while Ukrainian forces claim they can shoot down or jam 88–90% of conventional Russian drones. As Moscow adapts its tactics, Ukraine is seeking stronger air defences and fighter jets to counter the evolving threat. Banderol missile drones have also reportedly increased alongside jet-powered UAVs.
