Car with passengers onboard pulled to safety amid heavy rain in Uttarakhand

A vehicle with passengers onboard was pulled to safety by Border Roads Organisation in Uttarakhand. The car could be seen stuck between two boulders with powerful water currents passing underneath it. Car was stuck in Lambagad drain on Badrinath highway amid a landslide triggered by heavy rain. BRO earlier informed that efforts were being made by the organisation to retrieve the vehicle. Debris has blocked Rishikesh-Badrinath highway & damaged dozens of vehicles in Sirobagad. The link road of Khankhra-Khedakhal-Khirsu has also been blocked due to landslides. Landslides were triggered due to incessant rains in the area for the past four days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in Uttarakhand. As a precautionary measure, the Badrinath Yatra has been halted. Passengers en route to Badrinath were stopped in safe places.
