How PM Modi’s Twitter handle was hacked, tweeted about bitcoin, was restored

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Twitter handle was ‘very briefly compromised’ and was secured later. A link promising a bitcoin giveaway was shared on the account, Prime Minister's Office said. PMO tweeted, ‘The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured’. PM Modi’s account, which has over 73.4 million followers, has now been restored and malicious tweets have been deleted. Twitter India issued a statement saying ‘necessary steps’ were taken to secure the account. The malicious tweet claimed, ‘India has officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender’.
