India continues to bolster its border infrastructure amid tensions with China. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has started a key project at forbidding heights. Construction of the strategic road Likaru-Mig La-Fukche has begun at an altitude of 19,400 feet. This will be the world’s new highest motorable road, surpassing Umling La Pass. The road will connect Ladakh’s Demchok Sector to one of the military’s farthest outposts in the sensitive sector of Fukche, which is 3 km from the contested LAC.
