West has ramped up efforts to restrict the import of stones mined in Russia. Representatives from the West will reportedly visit India to discuss the matter. India is home to around 90 percent of the world's cutting and polishing of rare gems. The talks will revolve around the potential effects of ban on the import of rough Russian diamonds.
