Economic meltdown: Sri Lanka announced sending ministers to Russia & Qatar to try and secure cheap oil. 2 ministers will visit Russia & discuss getting more oil, after the purchase of 90,000 tonnes of Siberian crude in may. Last month's shipment of Russian oil was arranged through Coral Energy, a Dubai-based intermediary. Politicians been urging the authorities to negotiate directly with President Vladimir Putin's government. Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Energy Minister will visit Qatar & explore if any concessionary terms could be arranged.
