U.S. snipes China for backing Russia amid Ukraine war; Biden warns Jinping

The United States has hit out at China a day after its president Xi Jinping spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, for the second time since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The U.S. warned China that it was falling on the wrong side of history by backing Russia. "China claims to be neutral, but its behaviour makes clear that it is still investing in close ties to Russia," a US State Department spokesperson was quoted by AFP. The statement came hours after President Xi Jinping assured Putin of Beijing's support for Moscow's "sovereignty and security" during a call between the two leaders on Wednesday.
