Australia has launched a coronavirus tracing app named COVIDSafe. The app has, however, drawn criticism for its approach to privacy. The voluntary software is based on Singapore's TraceTogether. It will use Bluetooth and stored contact data on both app and servers. The app will let people know if they have been in close contact with Covid positive patients. Australian government has said that COVIDSafe will not track locations. It will only share data with health officials after an infected person offers consent. The government has also vowed to delete information after the pandemic is over.
