Drone attack on Iraq PM: Explosive-laden UAV targets Baghdad residence

Iraq Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi survived an assassination attempt early on Sunday. The incident occurred when al-Kadhimi's residence in Baghdad was hit in an apparent drone attack. Officials said al-Kadhimi was unharmed in the strike and is believed to be in good health. The country's military described the drone strike as an 'assassination attempt’. In a statement, the military added that security forces are taking all necessary measures. Later, al-Kadhimi took to Twitter & narrated the strike, informing that he's 'in good shape’. As far as the residents of Baghdad are concerned, no reports of injuries have arrived so far. Residents said they heard an explosion sound, followed by gunfire from the Green Zone. Western diplomats based in Green Zone also said they heard explosions, gunfire in the area. Notably, the Green Zone in Baghdad houses government buildings & foreign embassies.
