Days after the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas named Yahya Sinwar as the group’s new political leader. The group made the announcement in a statement on August 6. Sinwar, who is Hamas’ leader in the Gaza Strip, is considered the architect of October 7 attack on Israel.
