The Nobel Prize in literature will not be awarded this year following allegations of sexual abuse and financial scandal that has engulfed the Swedish Academy that selects the winner. The decision, made at a weekly meeting in Stockholm on May 3, was announced on May 4. The person at the centre of sex abuse scandal is French photographer Jean-Claude Arnault who is the husband of academy member Katarina Frostenson. The academy has said the 2018 prize will be given in 2019.
