The Taliban held its second press conference after taking over Afghanistan and issued a strong warning that the US must withdraw its forces by August 31. The insurgent group, however, urged skilled Afghans to stop fleeing the country. The Taliban also asked working women to stay at home until security systems are in place. The group is notorious for curbing women’s rights during its rule from 1996-2001. The UN has highlighted ‘credible’ reports of restrictions on women by the Taliban. Since their return to power, the Taliban have promised rights for women. The press conference was held by Taliban’s spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid.
