Watch: Mother Nature reclaims lost ground on China’s emerald isle
China's rampant development has put nature in full retreat, but in at least one village the countryside has crept back to reclaim lost ground. Houtowan, once a once a thriving fishing community of sturdy brick homes clinging to the steep hills of the island of Shengshan, is now abandoned with entire houses completely overgrown as if shrink-wrapped in a lush layer of green. But the bush's re-conquest has given the village a fairy-tale setting and combined with East China Sea vistas, it is now drawing tourists. Watch the video and enjoy the beautiful village frozen in time.
