Wikileaks’ Julian Assange gets 50-week jail term in UK

Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange has been sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for breaching bail conditions in the United Kingdom. In 2012, Assange took refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy while on bail in London. He was recently handed over to UK authorities by the Ecuadorian government, which accused Assange of interfering in other countries' internal affairs. He is also wanted in the United States of America for allegedly violating secrecy laws. Extradition proceedings are underway in the UK.
