Lanka denies causing heavy civilian casualties

The Government of Sri Lanka on Monday denied allegations of causing heavy civilian casualties and blamed the Tamil Tigers for reported heavy civilian casualties due to artillery barrages. Hundreds were killed on Sunday and Monday by artillery strikes on the five square kilometer strip of territory controlled by LTTE.
