Dozens of people stopped in Manhattan intersections in New York to gaze at photos of endangered animals shining on the side of the Empire State Building on saturday. Organizers say the event, which cost over was $1 million, was a first-of-its-kind live video projection. In total 160 species of endangered animals including birds, tigers, leopards and bears were shown at the event, which was meant to spark conversations about mass extinction. It was organized as part of a promotion for a new Discovery Channel documentary, Racing Extinction, which is set to air in December.
