Bangladeshi president Mohammed Shahabuddin ordered the release of former prime minister Khaleda Zia on Monday. Zia, 78, who is in poor health and currently hospitalised, had been serving a 17-year prison sentence for graft imposed in 2018, Daily Star reported.

Reports were received that scores of Bangladeshi nationals were seen trying to cross over to India in country made boats via Jaflong area, under BSF Meghalaya Frontier.

BSF informed that its personnel are monitoring the movement continuously, and no violation has taken place.
