Middle East war news highlights: Two people, an Indian and Pakistani national, have been killed and three others injured in Abu Dhabi on Thursday after an incident of missile interception, officials said. The incident comes hours after authorities said that they were dealing with missile threats from Iran. Multiple cars were also damaged in the incident that occurred near Sweihan street, Abu Dhabi media office said in a statement.

It is almost a month now since US-Israel launched airstrikes on Iran and the entire region descended into chaos as Iran retaliated by attacking US facilities in the region. While the US President over the past few days has claimed that the US is in talks with Iran to pause the fighting, Tehran has snubbed his claims.

As the war continues, multiple drone incidents were reported from the Middle East region on Thursday morning. Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait said they had successfully intercepted and destroyed the incoming drones. However, no casualty has been reported.

Top updates on Middle East war:

  • Six people allegedly linked to Hezbollah have been arrested in Kuwait as the authorities said that they had foiled a terror plot to assassinate leaders and senior officials in the Gulf state.
  • The arrested include five Kuwaiti nationals and one person of foreign nationality, Kuwait's interior ministry said on Wednesday.
  • Another 14 people outside the country were also part of the network that targeted state leaders and recruited people to assassinate them, the ministry said. These included five Kuwaitis, five others who recently had their Kuwaiti citizenship revoked, two Iranians and two Lebanese.
  • In the recent weeks, this is third such case where suspects linked to Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Lebanese militia designated by the US as a terrorist organisation, have been arrested for plotting attacks in Kuwait.
  • UAE minister Sultan Al Jaber called ‘weaponising’ of Strait of Hormuz ‘economic terrorism’ "When Iran holds the passage hostage, every nation pays the price “at the gas station, at the grocery store, at the pharmacy,” he was quoted as saying by The Khaleej Times. “No country can be allowed to destabilise the global economy in this way, not now, not ever,” he said.
  • Oil prices rose as the US and Iran offered conflicting comments on efforts to end the war that led to the closure of Strait of Hormuz, choked off swathes of crude production, and stoked concerns of a global energy crisis, Bloomberg reported.
  • Brent rose toward $104 a barrel after losing more than 2% on Wednesday, as West Texas Intermediate traded near $92. While the White House insisted peace talks are ongoing, Tehran rejected the US overtures and issued its own conditions.
