Russia Ukraine Crisis Updates: An Indian student was killed during shelling in Ukraine's Kharkiv today, the External Affairs Ministry said in a Twitter post. Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said: "With profound sorrow we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family". He also said the Foreign Secretary had called in the Russian and Ukrainian ambassadors stationed in Delhi to 'reiterate our demand for urgent safe passage for Indian nationals still in Kharkiv and cities in other conflict zones'. Kharkiv is Ukraine's second largest city and was battered by Russian missile strikes today; an Ukrainian minister tweeted a clip of a stately building exploding after what he said was a Russian missile strike. "Russian missile hits Freedom Square, right in the centre of Kharkiv. More and more innocent civilians become victims of Russian barbaric actions. #StopWarInUkraine. (sic)," the minister, Emine Dzheppar, tweeted.

Evacuation of Indian nationals from the eastern European country is taking place on a 'war footing', the government said earlier today.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine is in its sixth day and over 300 civilians, including at least 14 children, have been killed so far, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
However Russia, despite facing harsh sanctions and global disapproval, has said it will pursue the Ukraine offensive until 'all goals' achieved, the defence minister was quoted by AFP.
Polish PM to discuss EU membership for Ukraine with European Commission's von der Leyen
Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will discuss support for Ukraine joining the European Union with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels on Tuesday, a government spokesman said.
"This afternoon in Brussels, Prime Minister @MorawieckiM meets the President of the European Commission @vonderleyen," Piotr Muller Wrote on Twitter. "The topic will be systemic support for Ukraine in the context of its membership in the EU."
Russian army on outskirts of southern Ukrainian city Kherson: Mayor
The Russian army on Tuesday reached the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, near Moscow-controlled Crimea, and is setting up checkpoints on its outskirts, the city's mayor said.
"The Russian army is setting up checkpoints at the entrances of Kherson," mayor Igor Kolykhayev said on Facebook. "Kherson has been and will stay Ukrainian," he said.

Artillery kills 70 Ukraine soldiers
More than 70 Ukrainian soldiers were killed after Russian artillery hit a military base in Okhtyrka, a city between Kharkiv and Kyiv, the head of the region wrote on Telegram.
Dmytro Zhyvytskyy posted photographs of the charred shell of a four-story building and rescuers searching rubble. In a later Facebook post, he said many Russian soldiers and some local residents also were killed during the fighting on Sunday. The report could not immediately be confirmed.
