KARACHI: A 56-year-old Hindu doctor was fatally shot outside his clinic in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi in a crime some say was motivated by his religion. Dr Pireetam Lakhwani was shot once in his chest on Thursday. Lakhwani was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later shifted to Aga Khan University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday. Lakhwani’s son Rakesh Kumar said his father had no personal enmities and had received no threats. A Muttahida Qaumi Movement legislator termed Lakhwani’s killing a “religiously motivated murder”.
