"We have found five dead bodies," local police chief Jashim Uddin told AFP.

He said one of the survivors told police there were around 75 people on board. Ten were Bangladeshis while the rest were from neighbouring Myanmar.

The survivor said the boat had been fishing in the Bay of Bengal and was on its way to Thailand. He said some people had managed to swim ashore but that around 50 could be missing.
