The Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Sumatra continue to experience aftershocks today with five quakes, all measuring over five in the Richter scale, recorded in the region.

While the Great Nicobar Island was jolted by two moderate intensity quakes, two were recorded in and around Andaman, the Met Department said here.
A tremor measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale was recorded at 0542 hours IST, which was followed by a 5.2 intensity quake at 1023 hours IST, both epicentered off the west coast of Great Nicobar Island.
Another quake, of 5.6 intesity and epicentered to the northeast of Little Andaman, was experienced at 1324 hours, the Met Department said.
At 1726 IST, a 5.1 intensity quake was recorded off the west coast of South Andaman.
Earlier, another quake of intensity 5.8 on the Richter scale was recorded off the west coast of Northern Sumatra at 0627 hours IST.
There were no reports, so far, of any casualties or damage to property due to the quakes.
