Police said they have seized sophisticated weapons that include two sub-machine-guns, four pistols, one UK made weapon fitted with silencer and many magazines, from the trio.

The hit-men identified as Ganesh Shah alias “Tinku”, Anil Bania alias “Vikky” and Mukesh Kumar Yadav were arrested from different parts of Kathmandu, they said.

“They arrived in Kathmandu with a plan to kill high government officials in order to create political instability,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Bharat Bahadur G C said on Wednesday.

This is the first time that the police arrested such a dangerous gang with sophisticated weapons in capital, he said.

Baban Singh, an India-based criminal, provided them with the weapons, the police said, adding they were also linked with Pappu Yadav, another Indian criminal.

During interrogation, the trio admitted that they came here to sell the weapons but the police suspect that they have not disclosed their real plot.
