At least eight people were killed and over 50 injured Wednesday when a train rammed into a stationary intercity express in eastern Bangladesh, officials and witnesses said.

The collision occurred in Ashuganj, about 55 km east of the capital Dhaka.
Witnesses said an express train heading for the north-eastern city of Sylhet crashed into an intercity train waiting for departure from Ashuganj's station.
The bodies of eight passengers had been pulled from the wreckage, a spokesman for the state-run railways said.
