Eight killed in plane crash in Russia

A private plane crashed in Russia's Chelyabinsk region, killing all eight people on board, the regional emergencies centre said on Sunday.

Russia's top investigative body says eight people have been killed in the crash of a plane carrying skydivers in western Siberia.

The Investigative Committee says the crash took place about a mile (1.5 kilometers) from the airport in Kalachevo, some 850 miles (1,400 kilometers) east of Moscow. The plane was carrying two crew members and six skydivers, a committee statement said. The cause of Sunday's crash was not immediately determined. Russian news agencies identified the plane as an SM92T, a single-engine propeller aircraft.
