A spokesman for the National Anti-terrorism Committee said the special operation was conducted Sunday in a forest in Dagestan's Kizlyar region, Xinhua reported citing the Itar-Tass news agency.

One security personnel was also killed in the exchange of fire, he said.

Militants frequently mount attacks targeting police officers and government officials in the North Caucasus republics of Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia.
