Three people were found dead in mudslides in the country's second city of Busan and nearby areas after Thursday's rainstorm, the National Emergency Management Agency said.

An elderly woman drowned in a rural area of South Gyeongsang province and a man operating a water pump was killed by an electric shock in South Jeolla province, the agency said.

Busan experienced 266.5 mm (around 10 1/2 inches) of rain on Thursday alone, leaving 176 people homeless and 635 houses flooded in the city area.

Some 410 people were left homeless and over 1,200 houses were flooded or otherwise damaged throughout the region, the agency said.
