The bus, carrying 67 Indian pilgrims, was heading for Janakpur from this capital city. All the four victims died on the spot.

Janakpur is a major pilgrimage centre for Hindus as it is said to be the birthplace of goddess Sita, consort of Lord Rama.

The accident occurred on the Mahendra Highway in Lalbandi of Sarlahi district, some 200 km west of here, police said in a statement.

The bus with an Indian number plate ran over a ditch and overturned on the road. The accident was apparently caused by poor visibility due to fog.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital, police said.
