ROME (AP) _ Unions say gas station workers across Italy will stage a two-day strike to protest long working hours and high costs and to call for a modernization of gas stations.

The Figisc union said the strike will be held in most Italian cities.
The walkout begins at 7:30 p.m. (1730 GMT)on Tuesday for gas stations on city roads and at 10 p.m. (2000 GMT) on highways. Gas stations will remain shut until late on Thursday.
Unions say stations will remain open in and around L'Aquila, the quake-stricken city hosting a G-8 summit this week. In Sicily the strike will last three days.
The strike was called by three unions representing about 19,000 workers out of a total of 24,000.
