Gilani meets Nawaz Sharif in London

Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani met Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the country's principal opposition party, at his London apartment Friday to inquire about his health following heart surgery.

Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani met Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the country's principal opposition party, at his London apartment Friday to inquire about his health following heart surgery.

Nawaz Sharif, who heads the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has been convalescing following last month's heart operation, APP reported Saturday.

The opposition leader's plush apartment overlooks Hyde Park.

Gilani is in London on a private visit following the hospitalisation of his son Haider Gilani. Biopsy tests and ultrasound had shown the presence of a cyst in the liver of Haider who got married about four months back.

The prime minister said he had been in telephonic contact with Nawaz Sharif.

The two leaders met for nearly half-an-hour and discussed political and economic situation in the country. Pakistan High Commissioner to Britain Wajid Shamsul Hasan accompanied Gilani.
