As India and the West Indies gear up for their four-match ODI series starting on June 26, a prestigious sporting event in the Caribbeans was cancelled due to swine flu threat.

The Caribbean Games was to be held in Trinidad and Tobago from July 12-19 but has now been cancelled to prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus.

Trinidad and Tobago has 18 confirmed cases of the virus and health authorities have warned of the likelihood of that figure increasing over the coming days.

Two other events, the 2009 Girls' and Boys' Youth Cup football tournaments, scheduled to be hosted by Trinidad and Tobago next month and August have been postponed and cancelled, respectively, due to an outbreak of swine flu in the twin-island republic.

India play the first two ODI matches at Sabina Park, Kingston on June 26 and 28. The next two matches would be played in St Lucia on July 3 and 5.
