An Indian goldsmith has been stabbed to death by an unidentified group of looters in Kathmandu. 35-year-old Bishow Nath Patel was killed in Sukul Dhoka of Bhaktapur in Kathmandu on Saturday, police said.

The looters also took away 115 grams of gold, Rs 1,50,000 cash and two kilos of silver from his shop, they said. The Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (NGSDA) has condemned the incident and demanded stringent action against the culprits. The association urged the government to provide adequate security to them.
An armed group on December 28 had shot dead one Sapta Raj Shakya, owner of Aryatara Jewelers at Bhimsensthan in Kathmandu.
The NGSDA has expressed concern over the rising incidents of violence against the jewellers.
