The 33-year-old man, identified by his initials NM, was caught when his alcohol-loaded car met with an accident after which he fled from the spot, The National reported Thursday.
The defendant rented a Nissan Tida car for five months from a car rental company August 14 last year by using fake copies of a passport and a visit visa as well as a driving licence as a guarantee.
Police contacted the rental firm two weeks later and told them the car was involved in an accident and informed them that the driver fled because it was loaded with 24 bottles of alcohol.
The car rental company provided the documents to police and these were found to be forged.
NM denied making the forgeries at Dubai Criminal Court Thursday but confessed to using them to fraudulently obtaining the car and smuggling 24 bottles of alcohol.
The court is expected to give its verdict December 30.
