'Iran willing to help in Afghan reconstruction'

Iran is willing to take part in international efforts to rebuild Afghanistan and to combat drug trafficking in the war-shattered nation, its deputy foreign minister said in The Hague on Tuesday.

Iran is willing to take part in international efforts to rebuild Afghanistan and to combat drug trafficking in the war-shattered nation, its deputy foreign minister said in The Hague on Tuesday.

"Iran is fully prepared to participate in the projects aimed at combatting drug trafficking and the plans in line with developing and reconstructing Afghanistan," he said in a speech provided to the media ahead of delivery.

Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Mehdi Akhoondzadeh was to make the speech at a major international conference on Afghanistan in The Hague.
