Landmark Hindu temple in London celebrating silver jubilee
A historic Hindu temple is celebrating its remarkable silver jubilee in Willesden, London, this week. The landmark Shree Swaminarayan was the first of its kind to be built in Europe.
Devotees from all over the world, including Australia, India and America, have reportedly visited the UK to mark the 25th anniversary of the Shree Swaminarayan temple.
The festivities included a street festival, which was attended by thousands, a live music concert and an opening ceremony choreographed by the younger members of the temple.
It is the first Swaminarayan Mandir, which is dedicated to the followers of a Hindu division called Swaminarayan Sampraday, to be built in London.
Hundreds of volunteers have been working for nearly two years to hold the nine days of festivities.
