A magnitude 6.7 quake hit off Papua New Guinea’s island of New Ireland, the US Geological Survey reported on Tuesday.

There were no immediate warnings of a tsunami from the strong quake, the epicentre of which was 95 km (60 miles) south southeast of Taron, New Ireland.
The epicentre was at a depth of 35 km (21.7 miles).
The USGS had initially reported the magnitude of the quake as 7.0.
