"Based on early observations, there were no injuries or damage," provincial governor Selman Yenigun told the official news agency Anatolia.

The quake, measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale, occured at 0322 GMT and was felt in neighbouring provinces, the Kandilli observatory in Istanbul said.
