Nepal army condemns study linking it to cholera in Haiti

The Nepalese army today condemned a report linking its UN peacekeepers to a cholera outbreak ravaging Haiti, saying there was no evidence to support such an allegation.

The Nepalese army on Wednesday condemned a report linking its UN peacekeepers to a cholera outbreak ravaging Haiti, saying there was no evidence to support such an allegation.

Spokesman Ramindra Chhetri said, "the study, compiled by a French epidemiologist, contained no evidence that directly implicated Nepalese troops."

"It's a hypothetical conclusion and we strongly condemn the making of such allegations with no firm evidence or facts," he told AFP.
