Nepal needs India’s help to develop skilled manpower: Koirala

“Nepal needs skilled manpower and India’s cooperation in field of human resources development as it is very important for the building of the nation,” Nepalese Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala said at an event held to mark the anniversary of ITEC.

Nepal on Thursday sought India’s cooperation to develop skilled manpower in the nation.

“Nepal needs skilled manpower and India’s cooperation in field of human resources development as it is very important for the building of the nation,” Nepalese Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala said at an event held to mark the anniversary of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC).

Koirala was chief guest at the function organised by Indian embassy in Kathmandu at its premises in Lainchaur, Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood was also present on the occasion.

Under ITEC which was launched in 1964 and its corollary SCWAAP (Special Common Wealth Assistance for Africa Programme), 156 countries in Asia, East Europe, Central Asia, Africa and Latin America are invited to share in the Indian development acquired over six decades of India’s existence as a free nation.

Only 12 Nepalese participated in the ITEC in 2000 the number increased to 80 in 2009, according to Indian Embassy.
