"It would be sort of obscene. It's not that I want to use my husband's power to sell my songs. I just don't believe that women should drop everything," the 40-year-old model- turned-pop star said in support of her decision, Contactmusic.Com reports.

Bruni followed up her February wedding to Sarkozy with the release her latest album Comme Si de Rien N'etait (As If Nothing Had Happened) last month. The album has topped the French charts, the report said.

Bruni says she will continue to create new music while she's the country's First Lady, but she insists she has no plans of marketing her songs with live performances - because it would be in poor taste.
